The ball was hit hard and fielded cleanly, and very close to the infield.

The ball arrived in the catcher's mitt and the runner was still several steps from the plate. There have been 2 runners thrown out at the plate this week, and one that was thrown out trying to get back to third when coach threw up the stop sign too late, and one gift from the catcher on obstruction. I think he has been too aggressive and players have been thrown out because of it. If there are 2 outs you may play more aggressive, but in those situation there were not 2 outs.
